Film Producer, Director, and Activist Julie Thompson on her latest film “Nebraska”

Producer, director, and Activist Julie Thompson a long time political activist, has produced a new Film called Nebraska. This is a beautifully crafted film about aging, greed, loyalty, families trying to carry out their dreams, the false promises of capitalism, the curse of the almighty dollar, and the struggle for solace and meaning by lonely abandoned white folks living in a dying society.  And despite the heaviness of the themes, it is pulled off with great writing, wonderful character development, and an ironic take on life that is more affirming for the audience and the characters than the circumstances would warrant.

Julie has produced or directed films such as,“Nebraska”, “The Eyes of Nye”, “Guilty Hearts”, “The Color of Love: Jacey’s Story”, “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman: The Movie”, “The Willmar 8” and many others. Julie is also co-founder of Los Angeles Activist Video Archive.

A longtime progressive and activist Julie uses her film-making talents to further grassroots efforts involving progressive social issues.
