Alex Sanchez – former gang member and peace activist, and Luis Rodriguez – poet and author, discuss El Salvador’s unprecedented gang truce which was initiated by the County’s Top gang leaders and facilitated by top government and church officials.
Alex Sanchez, (left) is a Internationally recognized peacemaker, former gang member, Director of Homies Unidos, and a repeated target of federal prosecution. As a former El Salvadorian gang member, Alex works with communities to help gang impacted and disenfranchised families.
Luis Rodriguez is an activist, poet, and author of Always Running: La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A. Luis returned recently from a trip to El Salvador to witness a truce between the country’s largest gangs, many of whose members are from Los Angeles, many of them deported to El Salvador.
