Betsy Estudillo, an organizer with Dream Team Los Angeles, helps us assess the recent national victory that the Dreamers won from the Obama administration–an executive order stopping deportations of 1 million undocumented youth.
Betsy Estudillo, a leader of Dream Team Los Angeles, discusses the recent decision by the Obama administration to defer deportations of the estimated 1 million undocumented youth in the U.S. who are called Dreamers. Since 2003, when she was a high school student in Los Angeles, Betsy has organized for the rights of immigrant youths to live, work, and become citizens of the U.S. without fear of deportation. She has been public about her undocumented status since then, one of the most effective and risky tactics of the Dream Team movement. She is currently a graduate student at UCLA in Social Welfare.
